Knockout King_292 Oct 30, 2002, 12:49 AM Hey, Some of you may remember me from the ps2 scene, but i just traded my ps2 for an xbox, and so far i'm quite pleased:round:
Anyways, i wanna connect my xbox to my pc and rip games and such, can someone get me started on this sort of thing?
thanks
Jaymus Oct 30, 2002, 01:59 AM Get a modchip (matrix is simple to install, since you can flash it easily yourself and it's no solder) Check the modchip section for help installing it.
It's very easy, get the flashpack for the matrix, flash the chip. Install in XBox, then install EvoX Dashboard.
With the dashboard on a disc or on the HD, it gives you FTP capabilities, then you can rip your own games.
Check out our FAQ section also.
Knockout King_292 Oct 30, 2002, 05:02 PM what is flashing, i'm confused :S sorry, i'm really new to this
psibob84 Oct 30, 2002, 05:04 PM flashing is just another word meaning writing the bios to the chip (like writing the hex code to a ps2 or psx chip)
Knockout King_292 Oct 30, 2002, 08:22 PM ok, so what exactly do i need? also what do i need to connect my xbox to my computer?
Jaymus Oct 30, 2002, 08:29 PM There is a guide in the FAQ, that shows how to network your XBox to PC. I suggest reading the FAQ first, and read up on tutorials on xbox-scene.com. They have a bunch of good info.
socrates75 Oct 30, 2002, 08:32 PM Welcome to the world of fun fun fun. :D
Knockout King_292 Oct 30, 2002, 09:27 PM ok, but the tutorials always start ahead of where i am, like how do i install evox on to my xbox hd?
alagares Oct 30, 2002, 09:57 PM Hey:
1. First you need to have your modchip installed.
2. Then you need to have evox (the latest evox 1.8.2812) in a cdrw. You downloaded the evox iso(but don't burn it yet). The file that you download always have an evox.iso ready to burn to a cd and the files need it to make you own iso. You leave the evox.iso alone and look for the file named evox.ini. Open this file with notepad and edit the part that says network to look like this:
[Network]
SetupNetwork = Yes
StaticIP = Yes
Ip = 160.254.216.2
Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway =
DNS1 = 0.0.0.0
DNS2 = 0.0.0.0
After this save the file again and close it.
Now you need to make the iso. Go to xISO and select MAKE ISO, then it will ask you for a folder. You select the folder where evox is. Then save the iso with any name you want a burn it to a CDRW. If for some reason your xbox doesn't read this CDRW. You may try and add dummy files to the dir of evox and make the iso again, but with the dummy files inside. (to make the dummy files just make a folder named 0dummy and put whatever you want in there to make 400mb or 500mb)
Boot your xbox with the EVOX CDRW
Now that you have your evox on CDRW. You will want to connect to your xbox via your pc. The easiest way is to get a Crossover lan cable (crossover cables are different that normal lan cat5 cable). Change your ip address in your computer to a one similar that the one in evox.ini file for example 160.254.216.1
So:
160.254.216.1 will be the ip of your computer and
160.254.216.2 will be the ip of your xbox
To change the ip of your computer under windows go to Control Panel>Network Connection> click your properties for the lan adapter>Select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click Properties. Under properties in general tap select: use the following ip address.
Now you need a program like FLASHFXP to connect to your xbox.
With Flash FXP you select Quick Connect put the ip address of your xbox, your username xbox and your password xbox.
Before connecting reboot the xbox with the lan cable connected to the computer and the computer on. When the xbox boot to evox check under System utilities> Settings and check that Use Static IP says yes and that the ip address for the xbox is there.
Now connect with FlashFXP and go to the C: directory of your xbox
You may want to save everything that is in C: to your xbox, so do it now. copy folder c: to your computer. (just drag and drop it)
Now changing the dashboards.
Now that you have your backup of c: you can rename in C: xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe. Then in the window of YOUR PC in FLASHFXP go to the EVOX folder and rename the default.xbe to xboxdash.xbe. Then copy it to your xbox c:
Now and last copy evox.ini from your pc to xbox c:
After all this you can add a new harddrive, copy games to harddirve etc using FLASHFXP or boXEPLORER.
I hope this can help you
Alexis
