PS2 DVD playback is worse than a sub-£100 DVD player. The picture is darker, and more grainy.

a standalone dvd player is so damn cheap these days, probally not much, most ppl own a dvd player besides the console, personally I have never watched a dvd on my console so much more convient to just pop it in the good ol dvd player.

You get crappy play back if you using RFU adapater.

nah PS2/xbox are less compatable than a cheap Dansai/Cyberhome/Pacific etc,

definately no more than £50

Just take a look at one of the "Nuon-enhanced" dvd players that are on clearance around the web...that'll give you an idea of how much a game console would be worth as a dvd player...not too much...

probably about £30 for ps2, maybe £40 for a xbox, cant understand all the pepl that use em, picture is rubbish even with svideo. tyhey cant play svcd, or vcd, or mp3, on their own. quality is blocky, grainy barely better than a decent vhs, worse than an ok svhs video.

compare with a cheapo cyber home for £80 (which plays svcd, vcd, mp3, etc etc) and theyll wonder what they been watching. i got a toshiba for £130 multiregion and the picture is soo much better. dvd playing is just a function tacked on to the machines.
