gamespot said there were parts with lots of cops that made the FPS go way down (supposedly like GTA3, though ive never played either, still waiting for jap no swap for 10000...) but they never said anything about freezing...

i'd say try to get diff media/reburn/new copy

Well for me on traxdata I was driving along quite happy, and then I just fell through the road and started floating / falling to nowhere, because the graphics had not drawn in quick enough.

I also experienced the "loading" screen during the game but my game did not load back up, just froze!!!!

Ohhhhhhhh I am so mad. Bloody ps2 lasers v media wars

Hi guys there is a way to decrease the slowdown - pause the game, goto the display menu and select TRAILS to OFF. It worked for me ;)

Turn the music all the way down and works fine for me.

The Same thing happened to me with GTA3. I found that burning at 1x on verbatim media helped, but didn't eliminate the problem. Eventually I gave up and got it on DVD-r (low quality media) it still happened but nowhere near as much, I will get GTA VC on high quality dvd-r and post results

Cheers

i have an original and it happened to me once. It only happens because there are so many people and cars to load....as well as be able to which music at the press of a button. VC has a lot more action happening at once than gta3 did so, one could actually say that it pushes the ps2 power to the max. I've noticed that the people in this game interact with each other....just stop and look and get in real close and you can hear the people having a real conversation with each other....and i'm not talking about them just walking down the street and then just blurt something out. Anyway, i wouldn't call it a slowdown but just a misplaced load. Mine stopped loading popped up and 2 secs later i was back in the action.
