I have issues with my new sony dru500a drive I am using sony dvd-r media and Swap Magic discs Knife swap.
1. I copied FFX using nero putting an image on my drive and burned at 1 X and it does not boot the screen goes blue like it is going to boot but then freezes. I also copied spider man the same way it it worked fine. Are there any issues with FFX and/or Sony media? I was also not able to load Bauldurs Gate. Both FFX and baldurs gate were rented from Blockbuster.

2. How can you burn .gi files I can not seem to find software I can use with this drive to do it. Can I use Nero if so how? Isobuster gives me an error.
The recordnow software that came with drive does not appear to be able to do .gi files.

Any info would be great thank you

RecordNow MAX, does support .gi files. I know because i burned GTA Vice City using .gi files and RecordNow MAX. It is the only software i use when burning on DVD-R's. I even use it to read the game and build the .gi image from the game, to be able to burn.

I heard people are having problems though with software reading the new Sony drive. I know that RecordNow MAX comes with the drive, but for whatever reason people are still having trouble. I think that STOMP INC. said, that there will be a new version available soon, if not already with the updates.

Anyways, just put your blank DVDR in and start RecordNow MAX. Close the wizard, because you dont want to use that. Up at the top, click the option for IMAGE. Then select your Sony drive and search your hard drive for where you saved your .gi files. Most of the time there is more than 1 .gi file to a game. Load the smallest .gi file of the bunch and and burn. RecordNow MAX will handle the rest!
Oh yea, and for best results, always build and burn at your drives lowest speed.

Hope i helped and Good Luck! d=)

I think that STOMP has put out a new version 4.5 of RecordNow MAX.
I think it's a BETA, but i could be wrong. Anyways, this is supposed to have the support for the Sony drive.

I would check around online, you could probably find a *cough full cough* copy online. *wink*
