Hi all. Having read lots about the awesome Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card ,I'm keen to buy one. I see that it's made by Hercules,ATi,Sapphire, and Gigabyte(maybe others too). The prices range between £275 and £300(pound sterling). Question is,am I gaining anything important by going for the more expensive? If someone could tell me whether all these cards would be identical in performance(ie. same scores with ,say,3DMark 2001SE benchmark),then,I would of course opt for the ATi,which is the cheapest one I could find. Many thanks for any advice.:)

Oh,and,is it compatible with Win98Se,as I have a horrible feeling it may be optimised for 2000 and xp.

As far as the "hardware compatibilty list", Win 98 only supports up to Radeon 8500 and 9000. If you really decide that you need a video card this state of the art, you might really want to consider upgrading to either Win2k Pro or XP pro. I know that it is a big step, but sometimes you just have to take it. You might want to look at the reviews at http://www.anandtech.com and http://www.tomshardware.com also, before making a decision.
