Guys,

I'm getting rid of my A03 and looking to get one of the newer generations of DVD writers..... I find the Pioneer excellent, but am wondering if the Sony is the preferred route given it can write to all four types of DVD.

Anyone got a Sony yet? made the same decision? or even which is the better one?

Can anyone point to a review comparing both?

Rowan.

Sony is +R/W and -R/W. As vr4 said above although there are five formats not four(DVD-RAM). So all four is not correct.

Still not much point having a multi-format drive if you are pretty much only going to use one of them... and by the same token if you want a drive that supports both formats the Pioneer is like buying only half a drive.

Also is that vr4 as in Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4??

Thanks Celtic.... just been looking at the news on the www.******************* site... looks like there are a lot of issues with media compatibility with the drive.....however, this could be something resolved easy enough...

Might just go with the Pioneer A05, but would prefer the extra speed in CD burining....

Oh yeah, your bang on the mark with the VR4 :D
