Clone is fine for game backups.

Are you sure your media is okay?? Can you backup other games with it??

Open the Clone CD Log when you are trying to copy the game. You will more than likely see that Clone IS copying but is giving piles of read errors.

This is normal for some Copy Protections. Clone can take up to 40-50mins to get up to 10% but after that it speeds up.

Download ClonyXXL:

I think this version is the English one. It will ensure you are using the correct settings in CloneCD to backup your game.

The Sims is protected with SafeDisc, which means lots of read errors at the start of the CD and some drives are simply not very fast at reading them as said check your Clone CD log. Also make sure that you have FES enabled.

Anyway, I'm moving this to the VGB forum.

Here are the instructions to make a working backup of most Protected CDs using CloneCD 3.x.x.x in combination with a CD-Reader/CD-Writer which can both can handle DAO-RAW:

Create the following directory:
<TempDir>: C:\TEMP\CD
Create a CD-Image using CloneCD 3.x.x.x with these settings:
Set Read Speed to 1x (176 kByte/s)
Select Read SubChannel Data from Data Tracks
Select Read SubChannel Data from Audio Tracks
Select Fast Error Skip
Set Read Retry to at least 5
Set Error correction to None
UnSelect Don't report bad sectors
UnSelect Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner
When ready burn the CD-Image a CD-R using CloneCD 3.x.x.x with these settings:
Set Write Speed to any desired speed
Select RAW DAO
Select Don't Repair SubChannel Data
UnSelect Simulate Writing (if available)
Select Burn Proof/Just Link (if available)
unSelect Perform Laser Power Calibration
unSelect Wait until Buffers are full
Select Always close last Session
Play the game!
Tip!Use the writer to make the image as they are often better at reading the bad sectors.

Most of those settings are overkill anyway. We are just talking SafeDisc here..

You don't need to read at 1X, you don't need to read any of the subchannels, FES settings depend on your hardware, I use 0 retries on software. SD only requires RAW SAO and you don't need to Select Don't Repair SubChannel Data as you don't even need to read them.
