OK i got to reformat my HD..and installed Windows..everything was wiped out.

Now i got it to install i need to get online..i download netzero online from my old pc (the one im using now) and it to transfer on my new comp,

The problem is it wont connect.. i go to control panel/add new hardware--- i got two listed..nothing about the modem though (56k)...so i let it seach for modems and it cant find it... i put it out and put it back on to see if compter can recognize but nothing happens.

I also have a choice of brand and models but i cant see it on the modem when i pulled it out.

Theres option for "have disk" but i don't have anything for that.

Please help.. thanks dudes:tup:

What o/s do you have? have you looked in the device manager yet showing all your hard it should be aleast diplayed there & install some drivers if you know what type of modem it is.i would install the drivers manaual don't let the computer do it.

if not shut down your computer & put the modem on another pci slot & see what happens.

I have Windows 98

I look in device manager? where should i look? I look on modem and click the + but nothing is there.

Also i looked on "other devices" and nothing about a modem.

I hooked it up on two different slots already..i'll try again and see what happens.

Anyone else have opinions? the computer seems like it can't detect it.

Look in device manager for something like pci communication device with a yellow explanation mark next to it.
Or go to add new hardware where it should give you a list of unknown hardware. Then install your drivers with the have disk option.

The PC cant recognize the modem (internal, 56k)

I put it on different ports and still nothing... is this modem just messed up?

Anyone want to sell me a modem with a drive disk>?

You just need the drivers for that modem, pull out the card and check it for a manufacturer then surf over to their site & download the driver.

If you want to buy a new modem check out the BST hardware forum.
