While i was in the middle of gaming i completely lost controll with the Gravis GamePad Pro controller that i have and just a few seconds after that i sort of heard a really low grinding like sound coming from my pc case =(
I have so far checked inside the case and cant see anything out of the ordinary in there as well as check that the controller is still firmly connected to the gameport as well as remove and reinstall the gamepad in Windows 2000 Pro to find that i am still unable to get it to work anymore
Now for some more details as to the setup, As i stated earlier its a Gravis GamePad Pro which i have connected to the Sound Blaster Audigy's Gameport thingy that connects to the card in the pci slot. I have the latest drivers for both the Audigy and the Gravis gamepad installed on Windows 2000, System Information in Computer Management shows not conflicts or sharing between hardware or problem devices. The gamepad is shown as Not Connected in the Gaming Options of the Control Panel and the Gravis Xperience Control Panel just pops up an error dialog box saying that the problem might be that the driver is not placed in the active game controller list which is in the Gaming Options of Control Panel that shows the controller as Not Connected
At first i wanted to plug my controller into the onboard gameport but windows no longer sees it since my Audigy card has it own gameport that i didnt have hooked up to the pci card till now so i then just went ahead and used the Audigy's Gameport and got the gamepad all set up and working fine for a couple hours till it crapped out on me now leaving me to wonder what happened
If anyone can suggest to me as to what may be the cause of this and/or how to solve it please let me know since i want to get back to my gaming with it
Also i sure hope that sound i heard which was quite low and from the pc case wasnt the sound of my Audigy card frying on me =( that would suck big time but i do still get sound from my Audigy card and it still sounds like its old self with no appearent quality loss, just cant seem to get the gameport to see my gamepad anymore =(
