Hi guys,

My AR2V2 disc, which has been great in playing the majority of my backups, has had one scratch too many, and my PS2 won't even read it anymore. I was wondering for those of you in the know, whether I should fork out the cash to buy another AR2V2 or whether I should go with DVD Region-X (which is also about half the price!).

Basically, does the DVD Region-X do everything that the AR2V2 does, like;

1. Play CD-R backups (both DVD-rips and regular CD-based backups?)
2. Play DVD-R backups via the Dave Mirra method (or something similar)

Any replies are greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the tip, dude!

So if I don't want to play DVD-Rs, will the Region-X disc boot up all of my CD-R backups and rips (including those pesky EA ones)?

Oh, by the way, I'm using a Neo2.2 ('cos a Messiah is too damned expensive!).

Hey,

Ive got a Neo 2.2 chip and my PS2 model is (30003 R) is that a v3?

Ive also got AR2 and this has been great for booting up all my CDR's but now I want to get some DVDR's - namely GTA:VC :)

What do I need to get and do to boot these up? what does the Magic Disk 2 do?

Anyone point me to a page of instructions?

Cheers

u can boot dvdr with neo2.2 and AR but u need an orignal dvd game with larger toc than game ur trying to boot - dmc demo and doa are both good..needs 2 swaps

magic disc 2 only needs one swap and no orginial dvd is needed...

Thanks for the info,

Ive just had a look through the Modchips thread and now reckon that I have the Neo 2.5/2.6 chip!

Someone got this done for me - thus why I dont actually know!

But I need to hold the eject button to boot all games - although I dont need to patch any of my EA games!?!

Can this chip also boot DVDR's?

How much is it to get a no swap chip fitted? is it really just a case of put the disk in the tray, close it and it boots???
