If your laser wears out abnormally quickly its normally due to you using shite media or burning them to quick and overworking the laser diode by it having to pump out a higher power beam to read the discs.

Personally I've had a Neo2.2, Neo4\Origa and a Messiah PS2 and never had a laser ' die ' on me. The Neo2.2 and Neo4\Origa was a V3 machine and when I sold it after having it 18 months is was still working perfectly..
