OK, so I've decided to purchase a DVD burner and then get an X-Box to chip. What is the best burner (for the value) to buy?

Really your only decent option is the Pioneer set of dvd burners, don't buy a DVD+R model. Only get DVD-R, but Pioneer are the best

Im going for the 4x Sony DRU-500a ... it writes both + and - DVD media, so you cant fail which ever eventually comes out on top! plus its about £250 which is roughly only £50 more then the Pioneer

I have a Pioneer A04. I have yet to make a coaster for my Xbox. I use Princo dvd-r's.

Dose anyone know if the SONY DRU500 has any compatibility issues with Media such as (Princo DVDR) or Software (Primo or Nero)?

If not I think the best option would be the sony due to the multi-format writing capability.

Please anyone with any knowledge regarding compatibility (especially hands on experience) feel free to contribute. We need your Knowledge!

Thanks!

If you don't know what a coaster is, that's actually a good thing. It's when the media(cdr / dvdr) your burnt on is good for nothing else but.......

freezbie.

Anyhow, this is more like consumer opionon on drives. It's been posted too much. Closing this.

Get Pioneer 104 or wait for the 105.
