From what the guys at Circuit City told me, and owning both types here's the deal.

Basicly boils down to two types, both are cat5e

Crossover Cables

For use with direct connections (ie PC-xbox)

Straight Through Cables(also known as a Patch or Standard)

For use with routers/hubs/switchs (ie PC-router-xbox)

Other than that it's all about the packaging and what the manufacturer decided to print on it.
