Hi folks. I have been looking for Evolution X for a while, finally got it from the ISO folder in this forum, even though its just the beta. Many thanks for that post. I was wondering how ever, will I be able to just burn that beta to CD-R? I was also wondering if any hints could be given as to where I may find other sources to get Evo X.
Anyway, thanks for any help. :)

No, get it DVD-R or CD-RW.
Best is to get it on DVD-R, then it's sure to boot. Not a lot of XBox would read CD-R

I burned the ISO to a PNY cd-r and it boots just fine.

Well I'm guessing that its not a BRAND new one so it want be the new samsung that seems to play loads ... so it must be a thompson or a phillips one i think ...
You can tell by ejecting the dvd drawer ... and the shape of the whole is either a lightbulb shape or not ...
I think the philips drive is the lightbuld shape whole ... and thats been reported to play SOME cdr's
Mine is the thompson and I dont think it plays only cdrw's

It has a lightbulb shaped hole that you say is probably a philips. I bought it pre-chipped from moddogs about 2 months ago. All I know is when I went to set up my evolution-x dashboard the system wouldn't boot with a memorex cd-rw, but had no problem with a PNY cd-r.

I tried burning this to cd-rw and it does boot fine. however, when I press A on MS Dashboard, my system goes back to the XBOX logo and say it cannot read this disc...any ideas? Oh and I have an X-ecuter chip.

The evo.ini or menu.ini has location of where the msdash is suppose to be, if you burned it on disk it might be pointing to wrong location of the original MSDash. You might want to edit the ini to point correctly then reburn on the CD-RW.
Wouldn't it be easier to just put Evoxdash on HD?

I wouldn't bother doing any of this crap. I tried so many ways and failed all the time, I have a Thompson drive. So here's how I succeeded first time - fully erase a CD-RW in nero, then burn the 'goldberg' evox method onto the disc. Worked perfect first time with me so give it a go>> http://www.goldberg-mods.co.uk/xboxdownloads.html
