I am gonna get a new drive and I hear that teac and plextor are the way to go. My first question is are these about the best that can be purchased now? Secondly is there a difference between internal and external except from the obvious? I am ready to get a new drive since mine is gettin crazy I have now an 8X4X32 and it worked fine for about a year. If you folks can give me some tips as to what to look for that would be great I want to get the best I can within reason.

Thanks so much!

Both drives are good. I prefer Plextor though... That's real quality stuff. I don't think there are any differences between Internal/External drives except for the price. If you don't need to use your writer on different PC's, buy an Internal.

To be fair, you could not go wrong if you bought a LiteOn 24X or a 32X drive. They are great and they supply most of the parts that go in the Plextor anyway.

And they are cheaper!

They are the real deal.
