hi all,

just got some films on dvd-r and they play ok on my standalone dvd player, but when i put them in my pc's dvd drive the drive doesn't do anything, i can't even look at the files.

the dvd drive is abour 2 years old, could this be the problem

the media is superior gen4

any ideas?

what DVD player do you have ?

There are`nt many players on the market that play DVD-R but nearly all of them will play the new generation DVD+R.

Check you have the latest codecs on your PC to read the files, what DVD program do you use on your PC, try Power DVD great proggy

If you can't access the disc then it won't matter what codecs or players you install.

the drive just says no disc!!!!!

the drive doesn't even spin like it would when you put a disc in it.

have you tried going to my computer right click on your drive and exploring?? do you see the files?? if not try putting a dvd that you know works into your drive and doing the same again you should then see the files, click back to see your dvd drive eject the good dvd and put the "faulty" one in, then right click - explore and hopefully you have tricked your drive to see the files, if it has rip it to your hd and burn it onto a new blank disc, I had similar trouble with a disc a month ago and used this method.
