You have gotten TMPGEnc to convert AC3's before?? Perhaps it might work for 2 channel ones, I have never tried. But it can't convert 6channel ones as it has no downmix engine.
Why re-encode the AC3 anyway?? Better just to keep it as is.

There is no need to use DVD2AVI, when ripping demux the movie and you end up with the m2v & ac3 files. You then encode the m2v and when that is done you should have another m2v and not an mpeg.
If you are using Spruce make sure both files are named the same (123.ac3 & 123.m2v) after you load the m2v Spruce automaticaly imports the ac3.

In Answer To Celtic Druid Yes It Does Convert AC3s you just leave it set on audio & Video And It Comes Out The Other End In An Mpeg File Which You Can Put Straight Into An Authoring Program The Audio And Video Are In The Same File iT Just Seems Easy To Have It All Together The File Always Fits On DVD No Matter How Long the Film --Well Within Reason I've Had 3hrs 15 mins No Prob Just By Using Avi And Tmpeg Alone I Have Never Had This Problem Before In Answer to vchlkctgk I Have ripped Films Usin Your Method But I LIke Using tmpeg to convert as far As I Know It Doesn't Support m2v Files Thats Why I Dont Use It . You Have To Use Rempeg Dont You Or Does Someone Know A Way You Can Get THe File Into Tmpeg Look Forward To Replys

It does support m2v because I use it.
When opening the file change "file types" to all.

TMPGEnc does not support ac3 files as C_D says what you have been importing into tmpg is a bloated vts_blabla_ac3.wav, If the combined size of the demuxed .m2v and .ac3 files are smaller than 4.3GB then your best doing what vchlkctgk says, Much easier.
If its larger and you only used to using tmpg then just import the .m2v file select ES stream at the front console then use whatever template or custom setting you use to re encode to a size thats acceptable - then re author the 2 stream in whatever program you use.

Older versions of TMPGEnc do not accept M2V's. Also those that do require you to have at least one of a few mpeg2 codecs installed.
Personally I would stick to using D2V's also as I said I would not re-encode the audio. Why waste time converting to 2channel mpeg audio when you can just keep the 5.1 AC3??
