This isn't a SCART cable question...
A mate of mine has a TV which doesn't support 60Hz. So all his NTSC backups play in black and white.
Is there something he can use - e.g. an adapter - rather than getting a new TV? (I can't seem to find anything anywhere).

Nice idea, but they're on DVDR and I don't have a DVDR writer!

there are 2 distinc issues here:
1. NTSC/PAL
2. B+W NTSC games
1. if an NTSC games looks ok but is B+W or colour then the TV supports NTSC - if tv doesn't support NTSC the game flickers really badly and is totally unplayable - so ur m8s tv supports NTSC and the issue is that NTSC games r in B+W
2. game will play in colour if u buy a properly wired rgb scart cable

fk1team is correct. If the picture is just black+white and NOT flickering or rolling up and down then your mates TV is capable of showing the NTSC signal. You just need a proper RGB scart lead. If he's just using the one that came with the PS2 then its no good as its just a A/V lead.

Thanks for the info m8s - he's going to try my SCART cable tonight.
Just to confuse the situation, he says his TV is NOT RGB compatible -- despite there being a SCART socket.

If his TV isn't RGB compatible then you can do a modification the the actual PS2 to force the output to PAL mode. This will then be o.k. with his A/V Scart socket. It is possible that his TV isn't RGB.... shame really coz the picture is SOooooooo much clearer..
