Mike1988_11 Feb 06, 2002, 12:42 PM I'm going to buy a PS2 or XBox within the next 2-4 months. I'm heavily leaning twords XBox since it seams to have the better hardware and games that I want. But what I was wonndering is how long I will have o wait for it to be cracked! please take your best guess and if you have any other web sites that would have this type of information on it please let me know!

The Tragik Prince Feb 06, 2002, 10:04 PM put it to your choice. I got both systems, Prefer the PS2 really and you can mod it, swap trick, etc. I haven't heard a thing on the xbox yet, but the system is pretty good. no more memory card, 8-10HD, 50,000 blocks. another good thing, a 2 year warranty on your system, no more 90 day crap. if you want to send the warranty slip in. put in $50 with the slip, 2 years of repairs and labor, no extra cost, just the shipping cost. PS2, a wopping $250 from a broken cord, to a busted DVD ROM. And if you say you used a gameshark, or any other generic part on the phone, they will not look or repair it.
PS2 is a great system, has it's good days and bad. I got the system for Halo (I know, there's more games than that), nice detail, bulky control, no multi tap, and no slow down.
so it's really up to you, if you want to system you want, go for it, but give the xbox a while till it gets cracked or somethin. I hope this helps a tab.
CrazyCowPie Feb 07, 2002, 02:21 AM Xbox is only a few months old..give it time
backup2k1 Feb 07, 2002, 12:45 PM hi m8 sorry to say that the xbox will not be cracked or never cracked
for a longtime as its got a lot of security in the box and all so the games
dvd9 disk that recorder dvd drivers can not read that the first block.
if someone does bring out any xbox games it be like the good old
silvers,
but again if microsoft add more fmv u will never see the cracks like we
had before with the dreamcast.
even the dev kit microsoft sells u got to upload to the server everyday
for this machine to work.
its well secure and i would say support the good xbox as the games
are amazing fun and the graffics are wow
backup2k1(the name u can trust) :)

No, it will definatly be cracked. Just maybe not in the way we would hope. For example game quality may be crappy with game features, FVM cut out. I think I am going to buy an X-Box and trade on here for originals. Maybe even if it does get cracked the way we would hope.
AMD Feb 07, 2002, 03:58 PM I heard that Xbox cannot read CDR and DVDR. Is it true?

Sorta. Its not supposed to be able to but jump on to www.xboxhacker.com and you will see that may not be true.
CrazyCowPie Feb 08, 2002, 01:55 AM Rumor over at the xboxhacker dot net, one guy tweek his DVD to read CD-R and all that stuff..unverify but rumor
Bone's FTP Feb 08, 2002, 08:36 AM I ran into an Xbox emulator for the PC this morning and downloaded it.
I do not have a 64 meg video card (which is what it requires) so I cannot test to see if it works.
Has anyone tried this yet?
Are the games even playable?
I rememeber the Bleem! emulator for the PSX and it sucked.
hehe
The games were so choppy....
Mothumos Feb 09, 2002, 11:22 PM It reads DVD-R. I can watch DVD movies when recorded on DVD-R, so obviously a game on a DVD-R might work.
Vyse Feb 11, 2002, 11:40 PM no the xbox emu doesnt work, people tried it a few weeks ago and no luck.

unr3al Feb 12, 2002, 08:48 PM Do you reckon they could rip a game to dvdr like we do with cdr and dvds when we do a vcd movie its usually on 2 discs or a big ps2 game sometimes is,so why couldnt the same be done with this if the discs are massive that the xbox uses rip em to dvdr discs maybe 2 ?
just a thought dunno if it could happen or not.
unr3al.
