Can any one help me with this?

I’ve just installed the SP1 update. During the installation process, I selected to ‘back-up’ files to enable the removal of SP1. The has taken up 850MB! Where are these back-up files and how can I delete them. I don’t think I’ll be needing the back-up files. SP1 installed without problems.

I usually do a ‘Ghost’ back-up once every two weeks. I then burn the resulting image to a CDRW. Now that I’ve installed SP1 the image file won’t fit on a CD.

Is there any way around this?

Please help if you can

Best thing to do is uninstall sp1 then reinstall it.
When it asks if you want to backup windows, choose no.

I thought of that, but there must be an easier way. I was hoping to find the backup file and just delete it!

As gambit said, go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to remove SP1 then reinstall it with the no backup option.

Don't even think of removing the backup folders and files manually or you'll mess up Windows, which will require more time & works to restore.

850 mb seems quite alot of space for backup files
i believe the files your looking for are in
C:\Windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$
i would look at the size of that folder
but dont just delete it, uninstall and reinstall as suggested .
also i dont use ghost myself but i,m positive you can span your image on 2 cds

Thanks for the info Guys,

Looks like I going to have to uninstall it and then re-install. According to the folder information, the size is only 237MB. I wonder what’s taking up the rest of the space. After installing SP1 I lost 850MB of hard drive space. The back-up file take 237MB, where’s the rest gone?

I’ll uninstall it this evening. Thanks for the advice.
