Is there any way I can some how lock Internet Explorer, so if someone tries to use it, it will as for a password. The easier thing to do is lock the screen, but this is not possible as a couple of people use the machine, so it needs to aroung the IE part.

Cheers

if you are using a router you may be able to block access to the internet by using the settings on the router on my linksys router its under filters / Filtered Private IP Range.

not allowed to touch the router as an external company look after it, i saw some software the would lock IE, but it came with loads of other features and you had to pay for it, we only need this on one machine so thought there might be some freeware or something within the windows 2K that could lock it?

Have a look at EXE-Lock

It works, but only for about 5 seconds!! There must be something within the OS that stops it running probarly. The icon changes for about 5 seconds and if you click on it while it is like this, then it asks you for the password, but after 5 secs, it then reverts to the IE icon and removes the password, any ideas?

I would just use a proggie like Zone Alarm, password protect the console and lock the firewall when you are not the one using it.

You could also do the same thing using the integrated Content Advisor and setting a password and tweaking some settings.
