Can anyone help me here! I have approximately 300/400 VHS Football Tapes that I have collected over the years, English, Scottish, European, World Cup, Cup Finals/replays and many live matches. They date from the 70's and 80's. I would like to attempt to covert as many as possible over to DVD format before disposing of the tapes! Here is my question...

Is it worth investing in a DVD Recorder to do this seeing as they have reduced greatly in price and transferring from VHS to DVD using this recorder? If so, which recorder? The philips make is the one I have in mind. What issues would I likely face with type of media, playing DVD's in other systems. Or, is there a better option for me to do this?

Cheers

Well with 300-400 it could get a bit tedious capturing them all on a PC and converting.

I would think that a standalone DVD recorder would be the best way to go.

Anyway, I'm moving this to CoOp.

wouldn't bother with philips dvd recorder mate as :

1: it's DVD+R format which is less compatible with standalones

2: Panasonic DMR-E20/E30 DVD-R recorders can now be picked up for around £400 & blank DVD-R's are as little as 50p each now.
