just got this drive and cant seem to burn music disk's! have tried with nero and furio, may get 2 out of 10 disc's to complete! seems when loading up the buffer it hits 100% then back to 98% then the orange light comes on, wallah! another coaster. have tried many settings in nero and nothing works consistant. Have allready searched the board for answers and have found none. anybody else have this problem or have any ideas? also note that i have burned several images with cdrwin, clone, and nero and all work perfect even at 24x! only making music......please help

hi m8,
are you burning on the fly from a cdrom.if so what make and model is it?
do you get the same results burning audio from the hard drive?
is dma enabled in device manager?

yes this is from the hard drive, mp3 to cd audio. and yes i have dma checked on the burner and dvd player, i have 2 hard drives c:\for operating and d:\ for storage both are 7200 rpm. and have tried burning from both drives. I was almost thinking it could be a shortage of power? as i am just running a 250 watt power supply. but why does everything else burn fine? even at 24x. the only succesfull music cd's have been at 8x.....any idea?:zombie:

what version of nero are u using?
i ahd a problem with 5.5.3.4 that came with the burner?
i went to nero.com and got the free upgrade to 5.5.7.2 and this solved my problem.
have you tried cdspeed in nero?this will tell you if dma is working correctly on the drive(look for low cpu utilization)

How is the master/slave situation? I recently bough a $25 paradise Ultra ATA/100 card, and my computer is sooo much happier.

You might be having too much traffic on the IDE channels.

Strange???

What firmware version is your LiteOn m8? If it's not the latest (5S54), I would upgrade it and see if that helps. www.liteonit.com/
