when i had windows 98se on my pc everything was fine.

i have got windows 2000 pro on now.

the problem i'm having is that when i scan something it's really slow. an a4 magzine page takes 20 mins @ 200 dpi :(

sometimes a message pops up that there is insufficient memory to carry out the task and other progs may have to be closed even though no other progs are open apart from zonealarm and my antivirus.

does anyone know of a prog that will free up memory for me before i scan??


my pc is a xp1700 with 256mb ddr ram.

Tweak xp has an option to optimise your ram, don't know if this would help you or not. I remember when I had 256 mb ddr like you, with windows xp and all my background progs running, it would leave about 110 mb free, by optimising it, this would go up to about 170 mb.
