I tried out someone else's menu.ini file and now I can't even get the ftp address of the Xbox so I can put back my old menu.ini file. It takes me to the EvoX screen but there's no "Network" menu for me to choose from. I even tried booting EvoX from a CD, and instead of taking me to the EvoX menu of the CD, it takes me to the hard drive's EvoX which is not what I want. So is my hard drive(original Xbox HD) useless? How can I go in and replace the menu.ini file?

put the menu.ini that you want on the cd. Are you sure you need menu.ini? The newest version of evo and mabye even the next oldest use evox.ini

Dude, thanks for your help. No one else would. It worked perfectly! I was able to go in hard drive and replaced the menu.ini file. The only thing I need to know is how to get the password from the hard drive so I can unlock it to use it in my pc. Anyone got the coding for the "backup" menu in the main menu?
