littlelooch Nov 17, 2002, 12:27 PM Yup, screw everything. I was a beta tester of XBL and loved every second of it. Best investment of $50 I ever made. Then it doesnt work. So I decide I will wait a while, there has to be fix, right? I am willing to bet that MS will continually make patches to stop new chips. So you turn itoff, maybe somehow they can install a program to boot up to see if yo u ever have a modchip turned on. Who knows, but I am willing to bet they will keep changing it to stop everyone.
Oh, and I took Mech Assult to a friend's house to play online and WOW. what a game online. This cant be passed up.
I am going out tommorow to trade in a few games and buy a 2nd Xbox. One for backups, one for retail/XBL.
Good enough for me. :)
rudey Nov 17, 2002, 01:20 PM lol :)
Messi Nov 17, 2002, 02:06 PM same for me too:)
i will have the chipped xbox just for playing backups and messing arond with.
Just gotta save up for the 2nd XBOX:(
Jaice Nov 17, 2002, 02:20 PM Thats a very good idea, but kinda costy, or you could get a matrix and install it and unstall it when you want to play online, but who wants to do that.
backup2k1 Nov 17, 2002, 02:52 PM hi if you install a switch on the modchip itself
to turn it off or on
it should work just fine not sure if it will run backup games ??????????
but real ones just fine
even if microsoft did have a program to see if there is a modchip
they will not be able to turn it on even if the modchip has a switch on it
i feel sorry for people that have got the evo on there hard drive
as i bet they can see if its on there when u do a update
infact what is next programming the games to see if there a modchip on it
or anything else ???????????
backup2k1(the name u can trust)
Springfield_PD Nov 17, 2002, 02:58 PM Ya but now his box is banned by serial number. What a way to treat all those beta testers who put the system through it's paces. It would've bee nice of them to warn them, so they could avoid the ban.
][H2o][ Nov 17, 2002, 04:18 PM your forgeting, this is microsoft.
if they can fook an xbox for being modified - which = them buying another xbox - which = more wonga in bill's back pocket, do you think there going to warn you :) exactly
clarence w Nov 17, 2002, 05:08 PM i had a 2nd xbox i was planning on having modded until the modded one stopped working on LIVE. so i just go online with the unmodded one. and Mechassault ROCKS!!!!
jjasc Nov 17, 2002, 09:51 PM So far you don't get banned if you have a MC but turn it off BEFORE and when you use xbox live. If you can remember to keep the mod chip deactivated (swirch) before you connect to xboxlive, you are fine
oojaxxoo Nov 17, 2002, 09:55 PM anybody have info on making a switch of some sort for the matrix modchip?
cameron_in_oz Nov 17, 2002, 10:09 PM you dont need to make a switch for the matrix ... if you used the ybox mod and DONT change your hardrive or LOCK your changed harddrive ... and then set the dip switches to mode 3 ... it should revert back to the original bios ... when you boot and then reset
haven't tried it myself yet as to lock the harddrive you need to connect your xbox drive to a PC and i only have a laptop ... :(
Katz Nov 17, 2002, 11:37 PM wat a waste of cash!
oojaxxoo Nov 18, 2002, 01:12 AM well, i didn't change the hard drive on my xbox..still have the original. also, what is the ybox mod? and if i switch it to mode 3, will i still be able to play backups? that's kind of why i wanted to know if there was a way to make a switch to turn the matrix on/off (without always having to open up the xbox) so i can play live w/ it off and backups with it on. so is there a way? thanks
