secrett2345 Nov 17, 2002, 02:54 PM Just wondering who all is goin to get one of these things and if u think they will be any good? Bgnome Nov 17, 2002, 03:19 PM they will suck better off getting a no-swap mod Spagboll Nov 17, 2002, 07:16 PM They look shite and have a few problems that I can forsee.. i.e. dust and shite getting into laser area... MY opinion mind you. Get a chip! Mike ( Spagboll ) ... :) Zero Nov 17, 2002, 09:27 PM Do not WASTE your money on this. Non-swaps however, do deserve your cash. Jaice Nov 17, 2002, 09:32 PM There a Total waste of money, why not just use the Knife trick. foreverbears Nov 17, 2002, 09:43 PM The money it takes to get a flip top cover going will be close to what you would pay for a no swap mod and install. I am going with the no swap. purecat Dec 16, 2002, 01:53 PM I have mine due in this week with the swap magic disks. I got both for $45 shipped, which was a big factor in deciding to get it. I cannot afford a no-swap mod chip, install or to ship my system anywhere so this was a great alternative for me. The only negative I have heard from those who have received theirs already is that it won't play DVDrips, which is fine with me as I'd rather have a dvdr of any dvd game anyway. I can't wait :D Just my 2 cents..... Cat briny_uk Dec 16, 2002, 01:59 PM anyone got a web link for these? im interested just to have a look nick PS2Player1 Dec 16, 2002, 02:05 PM www.ps2case.com jaykull Dec 16, 2002, 02:20 PM i have been using the knife trick for over a year, and i think this is a great alternative. i also think its great cause you don't have a mod chip in your system, and you never know but down the line the ps2 might get like the xbox with the online play and mod chips, and with this method you will not have that problem. Haku Dec 16, 2002, 02:47 PM i'm happy with my messiah ,even if i didnt have it i wouldent get one there stupid and the swaping is just damn annoying and even if the online play does pick up chips dosent bother me cos online on a console just sucks kickson Dec 16, 2002, 03:05 PM Well, it seems to me that for those that don't want to risk soldering should get a flip top. Yes they don't play dvdrips because of TOC size, but that's the only set back besides swapping and altering the look of your PS2. I have been seriously considering getting a Messiah as of late and I already ordered my flip top, but there are so many people that have problems after installing the chip. I'm more concerned with my laser going out on me more than anything since I have an old v1. I think either way, whether it's the flip top or a chip, they both get the job done of playing cd-r and dvd-r backups. briny_uk Dec 16, 2002, 03:40 PM although id prefer a no swap chip for my ps2, after looking at that site they look infinately better than the proto model looked, and now they look like they might actually work.. i might even buy my mates laser dead v4 and the ivory lid.. just as an extra, give it a testing, it certainly looks interesting.. the knife trick seems more of a stupid alternative to a chip to me.. some moron at my school embarrassingly gave me his ps2 to chip with a "proper chip" after he jammed is cd drive after attempting the knife trick + i think this flip thingy looks quite cool.. at the end of the day though swapping is a ***, and these flip tops + swap magics os the same as a no swap mod.. i can install my own mods so it doesnt interest me! - and for £40 people could have their ps2 chipped with a neo 2.2 + swap magic.. rambled on a bit there Nick wod_uk Dec 16, 2002, 03:56 PM why not put the money towards a no swap chip like the messiah 2 instead briny_uk Dec 16, 2002, 03:58 PM yeh.. they are interesting, but i cant see them taking off.. they do the same thing as a neo 2.2, but with drawbacks as spagboll pointed out.. one plus side over the neo 2.2 i can see is that its not sending any signal to the laser like the neo did, and this made the laser burn out far faster.., but no swap mods are the in thing now.. noone wants these swap mods anymore.. besides, no swaps will become far cheaper in not too long nick nick loneCoyo Dec 16, 2002, 05:21 PM its great for ppl that dont want to spend the money to install a chip hehe like me and if u really want to play dvdrip, just get a usb mod and it will work a usb mod is like 15 bucks shipped just waiting my case to arrive now.... briny_uk Dec 16, 2002, 06:30 PM whats the point in playing dvd rips if you have the opportunity to get them on dvds? nick Jaymus Dec 16, 2002, 06:50 PM Continue this on the other thread http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=225302&pagenumber=3 |
