I recently went to mode 3 on my Matrix and locked up my new hard drive. Everything went perfect. I was able to access the original dash with the original bios. I then got on to xbox live and was able to play the demos. Then I got stupid...

I used FXP to access the drive and decided to see what would happen if I replaced the new xboxlive dash with evox. Error 21...

So I figured no problem I'll just put the new xboxlive dash back on... Error 21

So I loaded up the disc with the bios on. No live just the disc. Update failed.

So then I erased every file on E and C that had been created when I installed xbox live... just like the way it was before I put in the disc. still Error 21...

Also another note... msxboxdash.xbe gives me an error 21 as well. So I can't access the dashboard from evox even with the bios on.

Any other trouble shooting ideas?

:furious:

Phew... gotta love the backed up C: and E: drives. I installed my old HDD and backed it up. I put the original dash back on the new HDD. Still no luck. Then I installed xbox live on my old drive and backed that up. I transferred the files to my new HDD. Success... and it remembered my login ID... which means there's some secret squirl files that I couldn't find to erase. So problem solved...

slomar ... are you using the ybox mod ??

Also did you lock you drive after you'd filled it with software?

And another thing ... do you know of a way of locking the harddrive without connecting to a pc ... I only have a laptop :(

I'm using the Evoxdash... same thing as yboxdash.

Yes... everythings working again so at least the problem is solved.

Maybe... You really don't need your laptop drive installed to unlock your xbox drive. The tutorial outlines the entire process using your A drive and a startup disk. If you can crack open your laptop you should be able to steal the IDE cord from its HDD and hook up the Xbox HDD. Then reboot with a start up disk and lock up your Xbox HDD. This should work as long as the IDE cords are the same. If I were you I'd just mess up your neighbors computer while they weren't looking.
