Is the Format war any closer to an end between -rw and +rw as I would like to pick a writer up but don't what to get stuck with a dud

I doubt it. Push come to shove just get the Sony drive which supports both formats. Then your in a win win regardless of which.

i agree, if your that worried about it go ahead and get the sony drive, it does both :)
