Ok I recently finished building my first pc, consisting of aSolteck sl-85erv mobo, P4 2.4b 533fsb, maxtor 40gig 7200rpm ata133 hard drive, a liteon 48x12x48 cdrw, a liteon 16x dvdrom, sony high density floppy, an Albatron Gf4 Ti4200p turbo 128mb ddr sdram 4x agp, all in a nci 8008k 18" case with a sunnycorp 300watt P4 psu and 2 case fans. My problem is that when I turn the power on I get no beep out of the onboard speaker or anything to the monitor. I know there is power cause the two case fans as well as the fans on the hsf and the vid card are going and I can hear the hard drive take off but thats as far as it goes. I tried starting with a boot floopy in but get the same results. It seems like a video card prob because of the no signal part, but shouldn't the speaker beep atleast once after the power is turned on? If anyone can give me some advise as to what might be the cause of this I would be very greatfull.

Remove everything other than the memory.
When you then turn it on it should at least beep with an error code indicating no video memory, if it doesn't then remove memory and then turn on, this should give eroor beeps indicating a memory failure.
Still no beeps then you have some problem with processor or mobo - double check all the jumpers etc for processor selection.

I think I found the problem, on of the chips on my ram was cracked. Hopefully new ram will solve the prob.

Even with faulty RAM the board should beep at you...
Make sure you have plugged the case speaker to the motherboard, and that its the right way round...
The first thing you should do after having fitted the new motherboard is reset the CMOS, not doing this can affect anything you do with the m/b... including your VGA.
As an aside, you will be lucky if your setup will run with any stability with only 300W...

Ok I think i got the resolution... Place it in the box and send it to my address.... :D J/K

Check to make sure the cpu is not overheating when u turn it on cause it could be making the CPU deactivate when extreme heat builds
