Well which one is better? or maybe one is better on specific jobs?

ddr is supposed to be better + is more expensive, but i've tried both of equal capacity in my pc & couldnt tell the difference

DDR ram is Twice as Fast as SDRAM, its even in the name, Double Data Rate and Single Data:idea: :idea: . The Operating Speed is at least twise as fast. For exaple take PC266 DDR and PC 133 SDRAM. The PC266 is twice as fast as PC133.

And by the way im not guessing...

Its actually about 60-70% faster in real terms . Twice as fast in speed (mhz) does not equall twice the memory bandwidth.

I didn't say bandwith, I meant operating speed, its a factor also.

in real life performance, the only thing you would notice is 60-70%, not
double it.

go with the DDR for sure. SDR chipsets are old and outdated. i'd say get
some pc3200 and an NForce2 :D

And by the way im not guessing... I'm not guessing either and I was talking about the difference you will notice. I've got a mobo that supports both and recently upgraded from 256 sd pc 133 to 256 ddr pc 2100 without changing any other components the performance increase was barely noticeable

ddr and sdram give me the same kind of performace, so when you buy memory, even if you get a ddr 1GB ram and your cpu speed is only 500mhz...... then the performance will still slow.....

and one more things is that your hard-drive have to be fast too....

so if you are off to a really fast computer, get a very fast cpu combine with a lot of mb ram plus a fast hard-drive.........

The advantage DDR has is that it is written to/read from twice per CPU clock cycle as apposed to SDRam's once per clock cycle. However RAM access speed is often not the bottleneck in system performance. Reviews on DDR I've seen conclude that all things being equal the average Office / Games user will see about a 25% -30% improvemement in performance.

Video/mp3 encoding - no difference
Games/ 3d/photo editing 10 - 30 % better
Normal use cdwriting/office/surfing etc programmes will load a bit quicker but most people probably wont notice

Agree with Darkman 100% on those figures, and I would say 25% extra is a high figure too. I do notice a fair bit of diference on my video editing though when done on a DDR RAM system as opposed to my other running SDRAM but nothing earth shattering. At the end of the day it's still best to buy DDR as that is all most mobos will support within a very short time.
