My little girl want's a karaoke machine for her B/day but I have no Idea what to buy, lookin to spend around £100/200 and it must be able to play cdr-s?

Any ideas or suggestions........:confused:

The only machine I've looked at is the Arbiter K9090 for 100 with 6 disks but I am not sure if it will play cdr-s

I echo Maestro's comments about taking a back up disc with you to try. With the budget you are setting, and depending on whether it is just for fun use for your daughter or whether you want one for yourself, all the major stores are stocking brands such as Goodmans, for example, for about the £99 mark, but if you want a decent one, I can recommend the JVC XL-SV23 ( £199-00 ) from good Music shops which will play CD+G, VCD, and CD-R's.....I know , I have had this one for about 3 years now, and am 100% happy with it....but that is a personal choice........

just remember mate the JVC is only a player (probably the most popular among KJs) if you go for that you will need to hook it up to an amp/hi-fi.
If that is no problem you should definitely go for the JVC

i agree with the jvc (i have one too as do most pub kj's). i rang around & got 10 discs thrown in too. Or another option is to buy a dvd player capable of playing vcds (tescos have a dansai for £69, that u can download an update disc to convert it to playing vcd in minutes). Just change your cdg/mp3 discs to vcd (i have the software/instructions to do this) and they'll be future proof too.

i've got update disc & everything u need to help u if u take this route m8.

yes music & lyrics will appear, if your dvd player can play VCD's.

download a .cdg file to unzip from here if u wanna have a go:

http://www.trustclip.com/99D4TTJ7NC8CAe8DVMQF1U7B32I

Software for below instructions can be got from here:

tempenc 2.53= http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html

cdg2avi (my instructions are for v1.5. I assume v1.7 is similar)= http://untiedknot.co.uk/cdg2avi/?PHPSESSID=961f59ff80a859681e53953c1672b9c9

divx (if needed)= http://www.divx.com/divx/

CDG2AVI

1. Start cdg2avi. In the “CDG+ Source”, click on the “Browse” button and locate your CDG file. In the “Avi Output”, select a location for it to be saved to.

WARNING. You will need 2 gigs of space to be safe.

2. Click on 25fps. X-res=340, Y-res=260. Click on “Start” & select “Full Frame Uncompressed”, then “OK”.

3. The conversion will have finished, when “100%” is displayed.

4. Close cdg2avi.

TMPENC
1. Open “TMPenc”. At the bottom where it says “Video source”, click on “Browse” and locate the .avi file that you just made. Now click on “Browse” for the “Audio source”, (this is the mp3 that came with the CDG). For the “Output file name”, select where you want the mpeg to go.

2. At the bottom right of the screen, you will see three buttons “Setting”, “Load”, & “Save". Before using these, click on “Load”. Select the “Extra” folder & choose the “Unlock .mcf” file (this will allow all subsequent fields to be adjusted).

Click on “settings”, then select:

Stream type = MPEG-1 Video.
Size = 352 x 288 pixels.
Aspect ratio = 1:1 (VGA)
Frame rate = 25fps.
Rate control mode = Constant bitrate (CBR).
Bitrate = 1246.
VBV buffer = 48.
Motion search precision = Motion estimate search (fast).

Click on the “Advanced” tab, then select:

Source aspect ratio = 1:1 (VGA), keep all other settings the same and click “OK”.

3. Now on the main screen, make “Stream type” = System (video+audio), then click “Start”.

4. Close “TMPEnc” after 100% completion. Locate the mpeg file that you’ve just made, & play with Win media player to check synchronisation.

BURNING VCD
Start Nero with wizard, compile new CD, Other CD formats, Video CD.
Choose the Mpg’s that you’ve created above from the right of the screen & drag across into the video window, to the left. A message will appear after the first one is dragged across. Select "turn off standard complience and continue". continue dragging accross, then click the burn icon.
