Now I have a CDRW device durability related question...
:( I'm wondering how much do they last?
 More immportant: I got a batch of some cheapo noname blank CD's but they are quite slow (if I write above 16x I usualy get errors)...
:hdspin: My concern is weather my CDRW is being worn out MORE by writing the CD's on small speeds (it's a SONY 40x/12x/48x), or it doesn't matter at all what speed I write the discs, since the CDRW is limited to a certain number of writes no matter the speed i use?
Which is TRUE???? ANY1?
PLEASE?!

You won't get a CDRW disc to write at 16X

I'm writin' regular cdr's not cdrw's, but using that particular cdrw device...
 How much will it last is my concern if i keep using these cheapo slow blank cdr's to write on (HOW MUCH WILL THE DEVICE LAST, NOT THE CDRW or CDR Disks), more/less/equal to when I would be writng some brandname discs at higher speeds ie. Verbatim's, Smart Buy's etc.

CDRW discs in my experience are less reliable than CDR's and certainly do seem to wear out over time. As for device durability I would doubt that writing slowly is harder on the device than writing at maximum as the same number of bits are being burned. I would think that the reverse is more likely as the mechanicals are moving faster.

Is that in your opinion more crucial: mechanicals?
Or is it more cruical that the laser is working for a longer period of time.
Does time working means more than bits/bytes written???

Think of it this way, the faster they write the hotter they get and that is more likely to wear things out sooner. As it will write at 48 speed I dont think you will ever wear it out, unless you are doing 10 copies a day. As for the rewritable cd's, I got some Traxdata 700mb 10 speed they write at 12 speed in the same Sony that you have.
