Hi all,
my buddy at work wants to install a 200G WD drive in his xbox.
Any ideas on how many games that can hold?
We're not sure what the avg size of each game is.

there is no average size - some games are a few hundred meg some are 3-4 gig

No point in putting in a 200 gig drive the xbox wont see it all, if i remember correctly the xbox will see 120 gig max, nothing more, 80 gig wasted isnt really the most cost effective solution.

actually if you put in a 160 it will see upto 137 gig i think

ripped games from retail to hd are large 2-4gb ,but you do get

the full monty,just a shame blockbusters dont have a large amount
to hire!

xbox games range in size it depends how the person ripped them. the ones on cdrs are no bigger then 700 megs and they are mission some videos and sound is compressed. the dvd ripped games can range enormelsy in size

Stevensly, trying to find the average number of games is pointless since nobody really knows. It's probable more usefull to know what is the minimum number of games you can fit that will fill the drive.

The Xbox needs ~3.2 for it's own purposes. Whatever is left on the harddrive is available for games. If you just assume the fixed value of a DVD-R is ~4.7gig then you can do the math yourself on what the minimum number of games is you can fit on a 120gig harddrive. By my calculations you could get at least 25 full 4.7gig games on there. (rounded up)

Naturally, since most games don't actually take up a full DVD you can get more games installed.

Any of you out there have swapped H/D or just running back ups?

i've got a 80 gig in mine till and i run everything apart from dvd movies from the harddrive.
as soon as that gets full i'm changing it for a 120 giger drive
