well, yesterday i started a post about games that dont work on multi game dvd-r, as it turns out all games will work on multi game dvd-r (atleast so far). even games that gave me a damaged disk error now work. how you ask? well i am glad you asked... i did some searching on the board and was reading about "beta patching". now just an FYI here... i use a homebrew 2.4 which isint beta. however, i figured what the hey and tried some beta patching... low and behold it works on every game so far... i even put 4 games that refused to work (from various attempts/compilations) on the same disk and every one of them worked like a charm. now there was an exception to the standard beta patch procedure. moto gp riot release... offset 214 was different it was like 0702 or some such... also just next to that was ffff ffff. i changed 214 to ffff ff00 and the ffff ffff to ffff ff00. now even that game works :).

now for burning, i have been using calg's method with prassi and it works every time. however i have noticed alot of laser activity... and i mean alot, as well as longer loading times. i am going to try and compile an iso and compare loading times and listem for heavy laser activity.... hopefully this will help with both or either issue. i dont know if the udf format is just taking a toll on the laser or what, but i dont wanna be stuck with a burnt out laser.

Nice post mate, very interesting. The problem with burning with Prassi is that i believe it puts things in alphabetical order which for games isnt exactly great as everything goes out of place and it takes the laser ages to find some things.

DOA 3 for example took ages to load when burned onto a multi cos an .iso was not created before hand, the guide is more suited to projects that dont contain that many files, am yet to find something better though. Xiso is total crap, still on the lookout for a good .iso creating tool, maybee update the guide then or totally change it.

The guide still works well for the media player e.t.c. though so its of some help.

Peace

thats what i was thinking myself cal_g ,alphebitical order. i have just gotten my hands on a copy of xboxisotools v1.1. i am gonna give that a try, if that dont work i suppose i'll have to "buy" an xdk and try gdfimage... i will have results on the xboxisotools v1.1 tomorrow. i'll post em here... good, bad or ugly.

on a side note i think nero has some type of file ordering in there somewhere... i just dont use nero that much.

Sweet, nice info guys. Same situation here, always wondered about the multigame, and why some games wouldn't work.

Also, still waiting to find a good ISO maker that works. XISO images I make myself never burns correctly.

dcsurfer, I added your section to the FAQ under merdoff's Beta patching, since I guess using Beta patching will make it so that the game can be used on any compliation where it wouldn't before.

I am using an xodus/matrix chip with bios 2.6 in my version 1 xbox and so far all multi boot games have worked flawlesly - I write to dvdrw first check the games then if all is well I burn to dvdr. So far so good, I have been using a Pioneer DVDRW and then Verbatim DVDR however. I beleive this is specific to the chip used, however it is my understanding that all that is used is the setup found in any of the xbox mag demo disks. Maybe a look inside some of these demos could shed some light - I use record now- data disk after I have added the files to the specific folders adn changed the pictures adn adjusted the music. Unsure if this is any help, just my experience.

cal_g, the syntax for gdfimage is...

gdfimage [\xboxgame] [xboxgame.iso]

where '\xboxgame' is the folder containing the games files u want built into an iso, and 'xboxgame.iso' is the name ur giving to the iso...

Question. So if the offset at 0x00000214 is not 0020 0000, do I need to change it or leaving it should work? (For games that didn't work on multi before)

well, i have seen (on riot releases) 0702 i think it was, i changed that to ffff ff00. also if 214 is ffff ffff, i change it to ffff ff00. also look at in the same line (in hex workshop) and see if there is an 0200 0000 or ffff ffff, if there is change that to ffff ff00 as well... i still have yet to find a game that this wont work on :).

calg, there is a nice little front end for gdfimage floating around. makes it a snap, and still has the dos reliability.... i would tell you where to find it, but i simply must get these emails mailed out. ;)

::edit::

i have somehow misplaced the email address.... hope they mail me soon so i can get in touch with them.

Can you get any multigame to work? Some games won't work on multi unless you edit the default.xbe (kinda like beta patching)

Have you gotten any multi to work? Could be burning method.

I have loads of multis. Just specify your problem and we'll try to help

I can get multi's to boot fine....no prob with burning method. The only problem is when using cpxmenu program......when I put a *.png file in the GFX spot it won't load. The game hangs. I can use media.png that came with the program, but nothing else. I have tried to resize and everything, from 400x300 to 160x160 and nothing. They are fine if I have no GFX or media.png (gfx of media player 4) but others don't work......that is the problem I am having.

Ok which games are you putting on.

You mentioned BMX XXX and what else.

I burned BMX XXX with a PNG and it works.

You are saying a game you burned WITHOUT a PNG will work, but if you put in a PNG it won't?

Ok, how are you making your PNG file by the way

ok this is what I did

for these 4 game compilation
BMX XXX
House of the Dead 3
Kakuto Chojin
Sneakers

Here is my config file

TITLE=BMX XXX
INFO=Acclaim Entertainment
GFX=BMX.png
DIR=BMX

TITLE=House of the Dead 3
INFO=Sega Corporation
GFX=HOD3.png
DIR=HOD3

TITLE=Kakuto Chojin
INFO=Microsoft Game Studios
GFX=Kakuto.png
DIR=Kakuto

TITLE=Sneakers
INFO=Microsoft Game Studios
GFX=Sneakers.png
DIR=Sneakers

ok, now this should be the folders you see on the same level

MenuX
Kakuto
Sneakers
HOD3
BMX

ok, now in your sshot directory in menux - you should only have

Kakuto.png
Sneakers.png
HOD3.png
BMX.png

That WILL WORK!!!!

Just make sure you make a new xdi file with the generator

if it doesn't work still, it's your damn png files.

gimme your e-mail and I'll send you my BMX.png

I know it's the png files but don't know why? I dl them as jpegs and transfered to png with paint....which should work.
Guess I am the only one who gets this prob.....oh well. I 'll just do without the graphics
