I have just bought a new pc and it doesnt seem to like my Lite-On 32x40x12x cdrw drive. Everytime i put a disk in wheather it be blank or have data on it, it makes my hard drive make weird squeaking noises and then my pc just hangs up.

The drive used to work perfect on my old pc and i have tried changing the settings like dma and auto sync transfer but nothing. I have tried it in different ide slots both slave and master and again nothing changes.

Any ideas please ??

Also a bit off topic but this pc also seems to be very slow on the net, it works fine then it will just stop for about 2 mins then just start loading up pages again. Nothing wrong with the modem, i have tried 2 differnet ones and still the same thing happens.

have you set it up as a master m8
i normaly put my writers in and set them up as secondary master
