Hi,

I'm not sure wots going on.
I'm losing the icon images for word and excel and anything microsoft, when I go into file type it has lost the location of the ico file, it thinks it is in the recycler??
After reseting the ico images they go again the next day!
Also in IE explorer 6, If i try to download from a link it does nothing. If I right click and "save target as" the screen flashes up very fast and then goes. I have tried re-installing IE 6 and it works for a while until buggering up again later in the day.

Can anyone throw any light? :cool:

I'd say it's time for a complete re-build (and update if you're using NT4).

I've also got a B: floppy drive appear under "my computer"
I haven't got a second floppy drive and I don't know where it came from.
MY antivirus program also refuses to bootup on startup and goes "disabled" in the system tray.

I think you are right, something like a virus or something off the net has done the OS right in.

Oh well looks like I've got a fun wind down to xmas fixing my work computer!!!

in folder options in safe mode. change the associations there. boot into normal see what happens.

try a different browser see if that works . try opera. if tyou wanted to avoid rebuilding try those things before you rebuild.
