I bought a lite-on 40125s 40x writer 5 weeks ago and was recording audio cd s on the fly from my dvd/cdrom drive quite happily at 16x DAO using some cheap bulkpaq 40x rated cdr.

not a coaster in sight.

when these ran out and I couldn't get any more I bought 40x datasafe silver premiums and 40x fws. can't reliably copy above 8x as the cdrs created are found hard to read by some of our players.

sent these back. got some verbatim datalife pluses 32x and same results. 8x is about as good on the fly as it gets. guess what I'm after is advice on trying to achieve the fastest reliable speed with what I've got. my writer hasn't done many cds and records data ok - is there a possibility that there could be a physical problem with the writer that has stopped it burning effectively....??? help.

I have reinstalled nero, flash and w98 as last resorts!

Are there any parameters I need to set on nero for the most effective burning speed?

Try burning from an image instead of on the fly for more reliable results.

do you mean copy the mp3 files to the hd and then create audio cd from there? think I've done this as a test but with similar results. will go away and check again and report back. cheers m8.

I still have my philips 8x writer and as a last resort will put this in and check how things work. Is there a possibility my new liteon isn't upto scratch, though it seems to do data ok but it seems like it now (it was ok for 5 weeks..) has problems writing the toc on an audio cd.

??

cheers m8

I mean burn from an image file, not from mp3's. I have burnt audio CD's at 40X with my 40125W and they work fine.

Does this mean that your home/car cd players have problems reading them?
If so, it is the brand of discs that plays you trick. Some home cd players are picky about media.
If the discs are read fine by the drives on your computer, the discs are correctly made.
Hope this made sense, and not only confused you more? :hdspin:
