Finally sorted out ne burner probs, only to discover I really really need to get more memory for running xp pro. I currently have 192mb , which is a combination of pc100 64mb sdram & pc133 128mb sdram. Basically I have 3 dimm slots on my mother board and from what I can assertain it will go up to 500mb, or there abouts. Question is, if I buy another pc133 128mb sdram should i just stick it in the last dimm slot ?, Ive heard from a few peeps that installing memory can often screw the pc !, I am after as much memory as I can afford so having the 3 memory chips in together is desirable but will it work ok ?

There should be no problem whatsoever. Some people recommend buying PC133 because of its 'upgradeability' but the chances are that the next computer you'll buy will be using a different type of memory so if you want to save a bit more you can go for the PC100 instead of 133. HTH

I agree with beardedwonder that you shouldn't have any problems adding more RAM.
However, personally, I would ditch the PC100 and just have 2 128MB PC133 DIMM's. Windows XP runs fine with 256MB of RAM and for myself I just couldn't justify the drop in speed (however small) just for the sake of
64MB of RAM, but thats just me. You could always try some benchmarks with and without the extra 64MB.

The difference in PC100 & PC133 prices is zero or very tiny if there is any. Only if you go to PC150 then you'll see a remarkable increase in price.

In short, get the PC133. Normally, the stick can go in any of the slots on the mobo. Sometimes, if it doesn't work, try switching the sticks around.

Adding more more will not screw your system up if you install the correct memory and install it properly
try www.crucial.com if you input your system manufacturer they will tell you what memory you need.
as for using pc133 it will still work at 100 so why bother with 133 when your machine should be using 100 and as for upgrading in the future it will probably be DDR memory in your next system as thats more or less the standard at the minute of new machines.

Uh, since your mobo uses SDRAM (mine does) there may be a memory limit and a density limit. I have a 440BX board that only goes up to 384MB. Also, Don't mix ECC and non-ECC RAM and don't put a high-density DIMM in that last slot...your mobo may not like a 512MB DIMM.
