I've had my liteon 40x12x48 burner for about 2 months now, and I'm starting to have problems. I can still burn data CD's no ploblems, but when I burn music CDs (using nero) my stereos (4 new, compatible cdr players) can't even read them. It's not the music I'm burning because I tried burning some of the CDs I've burnt before, and its not the blank CDs I'm using, because I'm using the same ones I've always used. If anyone has an idea I'd like to hear it.

audio cd creation has got gradually worse until my players can't read them. My system is set up ok. I've put my old writer back in for now while I contact the supplier and it is working just great.

btw - I've tried writing at 4,8 and 16x and the result is the same.

For reference:
Packard Bell 450 PIII, 128 mb RAM, W98 SE, Pioneer 113 dvd/cd rom (fw 1.12) secondary ide master, Liteon 40125S (fw upgraded to ZS0P) secondary slave, Nero 5.5.8.0 (then upgraded from OEM to Full Product). DMA enabled. Sync transfer disabled. Auto Insert Disabled. Disconnect enabled for both drives. Recording audio tried 4,8 and 16x DAO from dvd/cd rom drive mp3 and also mp3 held on HD

tried different ide settings also

Thought this post looked familiar.. I guess I will just close your old post for you.

In future please do not start a new post on exactly the same problem.

I have realised that the problem I have is with the liteon and not the media as previously thought. That is why I rewrote and retitled the question.

I have asked this question and researched this proble on several forums now and it is a fairly common problem with no-one able to resolve it without declaring that the drives are useless.

I'm just anxious to sort it out and would like as much info as I can.

It was not my intention to fall foul of forum rules.

Sorry, I apologise.

I Have a Liteon 24102b It will not burn DAO in this System (but burns DAO Fine in my other System with ALL burn ware) with Nero But Burns Fine in the DAO mode with Clone & Cdrwin in same system that Nero Fails in!!
Anyway heres my suggestion Make your Audio disk in the TAO mode that way the lazers turns on and off at the end of eack track & besure to FINALIZE the disk so it can be read all players ( I know DAO mode is the IDEAL Prefered way)
Also Download "CD-R Diagnostic" a trial version
http://www.cdrom-prod.com/software.html
( I Don't think I Will Let you Recover Anything BUT will let see it the" TOC" table of continents is written correctly on the Disk that FAIL to read in the stereo's

Good Luck

thanks for advice m8. I don't like using tao because some cd players are a bit fussy with it - especially sticking between tracks.

the only thing I haven't tried yet is to reload my version of easy cd 5 platinum and try that. could it be that liteons and nero just don't mix? (despite the fact that nero is the bundled program?)
