I'm using a sony vaio RX203 (P4 2ghz/512mb/pioneer 104...)

i put my source dvd in, started it as normal, and then when it came to burning the first disc, i used datawrite and it burned fine (although playback is dodgy on my dansai 955). I decided for the second disc that I'd use a White Label gen3 disc, so i let the prog prepare the second disc from the source, and then put in my white label to burn it to using nero again, and it doesnt work. it says 'this compilation will not fit on a CD' or something to that effect. Started over again several times, tried the internal dvd burner (not using nero), and it still won't work, gives a different error, also tried burning to a nero image file, and that didn't work ("not enough disk space"? but i have 30gb free!) I thought it could be the media, but tried with a datawrite disc (which I had used to burn the disc 1 of my backup successfully) and got the same error.

Here are the disk sizes it predicts (I would like to keep menus on both discs) :
Disk1 new size : 3.95gb
Disk2 new size : 4.24gb

The only thing i can think of is that the disc 2 is too big, although it SHOULDN'T be, so I'm trying it now without keeping the menu to make it smaller (<4gb), if that doesn't work I'm stumped.

anyone got any comments/suggestions? been able to burn a disc with dvdxcopy as big or bigger than my disc 2 new size? been able to use this prog with a white label disc?

Try burning it anyways

Swordfish gave me that error and it works fine

When it comes up with the message to write a disk, sneakly open Explorer & copy the files to another location, you can they use NERO or something to write to a dvd if you want. Or so said a couple people.

dvdxcopy has a wonderful forum too.

i tried the dvdxcopy forum but you need to wait 48 hours before you can post :-(

I can't burn it anyways, as after it gives me the error and i hit ok it just goes back to the main menu and deletes all the files in the working directory. And can't just open explorer and copy the files, as I think it rips the whole DVD, the file size is 7.something gigs, therefore cant just burn that to one dvd :-(

Sounds like you have your harddrive formated in fat32? It needs to be in NTFS for files over 4GB, That's why nero is saying you have no space left, When you have 30GB left. That's why the first disc burnt ok, Because you said it was 3.95GB and the 2nd disc didn't and is 4.24GB.

I'm sure someone can tell you how to convert to NTFS, Mine was formated when i brought it, So i can't tell you how to do it.

no, that's not the problem, my HD is formatted in NTFS, and i tried cutting out the menu to make it less than 4gb and it still had the same error. I guess i'll just have to try the dvdxcopy board when it lets me post in 2 days. thanks guys and if there are anymore suggestions pls let me know

i have tried this prog today also with a copy of the mummy and after it burned the first disk at 1*(pioneer104), i tried playing it on both pc and standalone and the picture is terrible, its like when sky digital cuts out if it is windy - the screen is just full of blocks and sound skips- it is definitely not hte media as they are always fine so i dont know what is going on??

What version of dvdxcopy? They have a couple of new ones ready don't they?

Did you install the gear drivers? Cause that, too, is important.

I put an ASPI layer on with FORCE ASPI because XP doesn't have an aspi layer....
