when i switch on my pc it tells me i have a file with a bad name which is indicated by lots of daft wee symbols, smilie faces etc, on the last black screen before the computer boots up (i know my technical knowledge is phenomenal) i have a file folder that is called "%blcdir%" could this have something to do with it, or does anyody have any ideas on how to find the corrupt file, virus scanner says everything is ok, HELP someone, please!!!!

Try fixing the problem using Scandisk.
