Im guessing this isnt the problem of the dvd itself but... When I watch a dvd on my ps2 the color fades from normal color to very dark about every 30 sec or so. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Need a bit more info.

Is the ps2 modded, if so what type of modification.

What region are you in? PAL/NTSC

Is the dvd in question a dvdr?

PS2 is not modded, USA region i forget what one that is, its a dvd movie bought from a store.

Bad movie then, return the movie.

And clean your laser lense, that never hurts.

And lastly, if your running your ps2 through your vcr, the fading black color is the macrovision protection, remove the console from the vcr and it should work, unless you have a tv with a vcr built in.

www.gamegizmo.com sells something to remove macrovision if your interested and if that is your problem.

buy a laser cleaner - all places sell them (walmart - target etc)

your ps2 is NTSC - but where do you live?

i ask this because an NTSC PS2 will play a NTSC DVD just fine
to me it sounds like you have a NTSC PS2 and a PAL DVD. not sure tho - thats why i ask

if i remember right - there are some movies that wont play right on a ps2 - it even sayd that in the owners manual.

well it does it on 2 of my movies... One is The Green Mile the other is a special Michael Jordan dvd series..

i have the green mile as well - i will try it out on my ps2 and see what results i get - o.k.?
