every one has there own brand that they prefer, but for me I'm going for the ibm 120g.some people claim it's too loud, but the one I have in my pc isn't loud @ all. besides I don'th think any hd is as loud as the xbox fan :)
the only real reason I would go for the ibm is because it's alot cheaper then the wd. my other drive in my pc is a wd 80g w/8meg buffer, wd makes nice drives but for some reason in my area there is quite a difference in price for a wd 120g vs an ibm120g 49$ difference.and they both have 2mbuffer with identical specs.I just can't justify 49$ for a brand name.
but that's just me:)

The IBM drives are so cheap because they have a tendancy to fail prematurely, and produce excess heat. That is why they don't make them anymore.

ooooh ok as long as the one in my pc holds up I'll be ok. I actually picked up a maxtor really cheap today for my xbox.... there isn't any thing wrong with those is there???? :) it's a little smaller then I wanted but it should do.

I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not. Do a google search on IBM deskstar failure. They do have problems. Heat is believed to be the cause, and given the tight squeeze of an xbox, heat could be even more of an issue. The GPX75 seem to have the worst problem, but all deskstar drives suffer from it.

why would u want your xbox hd to be 120gb?

so you can fit lots of games and apps on there, and never need a disc

no I wasn't being sarcastic, sorry if it sounded like it;) I had heard about the gpx75 but didn't think it was a problem for the whole deskstar line up:(
thanks for the info, I have 1 year warranty on the one in my pc, lets just hope if it's gonna crap out that it does it in that time period. I already bought a maxtor for my box, only a baby 30g mostly just for emu's and the odd game. now I just have to finish my plexiglass case so I can get my xbox up and running again.
