Hey.
I was just wandering if anyone could tell me the difference between these cards? Ive just upgraded my pc to a p4 2.4ghz 256ddr ram and am looking for a new graphics acccelerator and was looking at these 2 cards.
Could someone tell me if the difference between these 2 cards is worth the difference in the price.
Would the visuals or frame rate be that much different?
I could look at the specs on websites but it means nothing to me.:)
So basically is it really worth forking out that extra cash for the 4600?
Also are there any other cards I should consider?
Thank you very much.

I have an asus ti4400 overclocked to 310/605 at the mo.
The diiference between the 4200/4400/4600 is the default core and memory speeds of the card. Increasing as you go up the range. They are quite easy to overclock and a 10% speed increase should be quite easily obtainable. With the radeon 9700 pro out and nvidias new card due out soon, I would invest in a 4200 and oc it if you want more speed. A decent 4200 should be able to be bumped up to 4600 speeds. I would avoid gainward as I have read about alot of their cards dying after a few months.
A word of warning. These cards run hot! So make sure you have some decent case cooling. Ive fried one before and its easily done. It will raise your system temperature by a few degrees when doing anything graphics intensive.
A 4200 should be around £130 now.
If you want the top of the range card het a radeon 9700 pro. The performance difference between a 4600 and 4200 in most games will be negligable, and chances are something else in your system will be the weakest link rather than the graphics card.

Yeah, there no tech differences, just one goes farther than the other

The folks over at www.gamepc.com like the new Ati Pro 9700 and its little brother the 9500 http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=r9500pro&page=1 .
You might want to check the benchmarks.
I do know that the 9500 can be had for around $153.00.
It also supports AGP 8x.
