Arsenal02Champs Dec 17, 2002, 07:58 AM Hi,
Is there a special way to format the new 20gig Hard drives in the new v1.1 Xboxs? I have tried to do it like it was a new drive but I am not getting the extra 10gb. Anyone succesfully formatted the drive to show the extra 10gig?
Thanks
Matt
Jaymus Dec 17, 2002, 11:57 AM People have reformatted F: to only get 2 gigs more (ones with 20 gig HDs), dunno why. Perhaps other partitions can be reformatted as well.
Arsenal02Champs Dec 17, 2002, 08:20 PM Can anyone verify that it is able to be formatted to be able to use the extra 10gig that is on the drive?
Surely it would be the same as just using an new hard drive and formatting the F: drive?
If there is a way known to do it please put a step by step guide on here using the newest Evolution X.
Thanks
Matt

thanks WAZ if it doesn't work, you could return it to where you bought it. i got a 2 yr extended waranty on mine. but i would like reassurance also because i don't want to open my xbox till my matrix arrives.
Jaice Dec 20, 2002, 11:00 PM you'll need some tools from here www.megagames.com
You can use something like Ghost and make a Image, then use you PC or Reformat it, then make you partition, and use the info and tools from megagames to add the boot sectors back.

Your 2 yr warranty is gone when you open your Xbox too!
e-ghost Dec 22, 2002, 01:34 AM if anything work, can we fall back to the moment before we re-format or changing partition table? Can GHOST offer a 1-to-1 clone for XBFS?
OPTIMUS-CRIME Dec 22, 2002, 03:30 PM yo TreFacTor
just because you got the bundle, doesn't neccessarily mean you got a version 1.1 or the 20 gb hard drive.
i've modded 4 of the bundle xbox's already. and every one i did was a version 1 xbox.
thompson dvd drives and western digital hard drives.
and one of them even had a manufactures date of October 2002.
so, i wouldn't go by the date....or the fact that you have a bundle.
the only way to know for sure is to take the xbox apart. you can tell the difference between v1 and v1.1 easy.
the usb is integrated, there's no fan, and i think the lpc is different too, it's not filled with solder.
Cheers!
silversting Dec 23, 2002, 01:02 PM Mines a version 1.0 and it has the 20 gig Western Digital HD !!! So it's not only the Ver 1.1 that have the bigger HD's !!!
