Evox is a BIOS that allows you to run unassigned code. EvoXDash is just a cool menu interface that allows easier navigation of games/apps etc that you put on the HD and other functions.

I have no experience with live. As all my originals got so scratched up , they won't boot, so I have to play backups.

Its already running m8.
If you have a broadband connection - all you need to do is sign up and you're there.

http://www.xbox.com/uk/live/

For £42 you get fully playable (tho not ALL of the full game features are available) MotoGP on-line demo, and playable Whacked on-line demo
The ear peice and mic for voice comms
1 years subscription to the service (which doesn't officially 'launched' until March 2003 - so basically you get 15 months fo the price of 12).

Just remember - using back-up games is NOT allowed for the official Xbox Live service.

what can you do on xbox live than you cant do on xbconnect?
also
which mod chips will work with xbox live (i.e. you can switch off)?

yes you answered your question. the chips with switches so they are totally untraceable will work.. also make sure the other original stuff is there like hard drive etc...

main differences between live and xbconnect is that you can use the earpeice on live, and communicate mid game to other players.
Also where you have 16 player Moto GP on xbconnect it has to be done by linking 4 boxes over the net and everyone playing 4 player split screen.. on live you can have 16 players all playing on 16 seperate xboxes on full screen. So live is better, but they did cut their own throats by stopping modded boxes on there, so xbconnect / gamespy / clanladder and all those are much better for now because they are free.

Live is fantastic though.. although you do notice that you tend to swear under your breath a lot more when 15 others can hear you clearly heheheh.

so people can actually here you? how does that work if 16 people are all playing the game at once.
when you say that the HD has to be in etc, can you still have media player et all installed and get on live?

mate I'm not an XBox developer (proffesionally ;) But I would guess if theres anything they can check for to see if you have modded it (Bios being run / .XBE files on your root drive / if evo X is on the hard drive / if the hard drive or DVD ROM has been changed / files on the hard drive / new hard drive partitions) then they will check for the lot.
and if they dont do now, then they will do for the next game out... catch my drift?? if you dont want a lifetime ban from xbox live then only use a non modded xbox on it. But if you want a modded xbox, then make do with the other networks out there. I think any other answers will be speculation, but from a software engineer's point of view I would check on everything possible to see if the box has been modded (not just if the bios is different).

onto your other question, you can hear everyone in the same game as you (Or chat room if you are waiting for game to start) if an individual is annoying then you can ignore them and I would guess on games like racing games then you might only be able to hear the nearest ones to your car (again that's a guess). heheh and plus when you get onto it you'll realise the percentage of lads that play consoles to lasses (coz I think I have only played against one bird online so far, and when the missiz has a go you can hear the surprise of everyone else at there being a lady in the game heheheh.. however she does still whip my arse at rocky boxing :(

i can probably understand why the lasses dont go for an xbox. if they can hold them pads then you need to take your girl to a doctor to make sure she was born female!

i think lately people who have switched oof their mods have still been banned therefore its not a very reliable method.

i just wanna ad that with xboxconnect you can use the earpiece to.
and that you can go up to 16boxes either.
so there isnt that much different but we all hope that live wont use much bandwith as xbconnect because that lags pretty damn much on ghost recon not that much but halo is unplayable

Is it worth getting a switch added on to your Xbox so you can play live??
Think I'll leave mine as is I think to play Backups,
to play online I think I'll buy another XBox when xbox live is released Hopefully around march-april time they will be sub £100 hopefully with some package with 12 subscition to live

yeah Halo wasnt ever really written for live or online gaming - the amount of information that is pushed across the network for that game is phenominal.. but didnt realise you could still use the earpiece.. where could you get one form then without subscribing to live??
