I'm not sure what .par files are but could you not extract the files in the .rar files and the .par files seperatly?

Check the file names of the .rar files, sometimes they get changed to include a _ in the file name.
Better still download "FS Raid" (http://www.fluidstudios.com/fsraid.html) it will recognise files with the wrong name and give you the option of renaming them for you, It's as fast as SmartPar and it's still freeware.

par files are from news server. They are used to fix or replace missing .rar files.

thanks for the help. i downloaded another repost that had the full complete set rars. but i did download the FS raid and will use it next time i run into this problem, as this happened to me many times, and i knew that it had something to do with the naming of the files. thanx.
