This was one of the easiest things to figure out in the world - thanx to Elaborate Bytes for making it so easy for US and Great Britain users to re-enable the "Amplify Weak Sector" option. :)

Elby's description of this feature: "Enable Allow Amplify Weak Sectors if your CD writer cannot write regular bit patterns correctly."

Once you have installed Clone CD, simply run regedit and do the following:
If "Amplify Weak Sector" was disabled during install due to your region, you can re-enable it by editing the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ELABORATE BYTES\CLONECD\SETTINGS\

Right-Click the "AmplifyWeak" key and select MODIFY. Change the value from "0" to "1"

When you Write the CD, this option will still be greyed out but it will be permanently enabled. Change the value in the registry back to "0" if you wish to disable it. :)

Old news and I doubt it works any more since they have added the emulate option.

Sure it is old news m8, but I'm also sure many couldn't figure it out. Also, the smart people are still using CloneCD 3.x.x.x as it was a much better app than v4. ;) If the Amplify Weak Sectors option is still there, sure it stil works as the registry key will still remain.

Pretty sure that v3.x.x.x.x's AWS was not updated to include the newer patterns used by later SD versions though.

What I mean is that it is no longer AWS = enabled/disabled. It is weak sectors=ignore/amplify/emulate so it is no longer a case of AWS=1/0.

The regedit fix does not work with CloneCD 4.2.0.2. The registry entry does not exist.

Any other suggestions?

Told ya. I assume changing the PC's region still works though.

I used to go into the Control Panel, and change my Country\Region to Estonia. Sure, it worked, but while I'm using AIM, I find out that my keyboard has been set to Estonian! *sigh*

Maybe try the Australian Antarctic territories next time.

I have a patch that unlocks the features discussed above. I forget exactly where I got it, but it works great. Just used it on the latest version without a problem. I'm off to work right now, perhaps later tonight I can upload it for download if anyone is interested. If its only a couple of people, I can email it. Just let me know.

Yay! Now AWS is unlocked! Apparently, Antarctica is not only home to the original linux penguins, but also apparently has no copyright laws. Hmm...wonder how much a U-Haul would cost for the move....
