I've only recently tried to play DVDs on my pc. The first DVD I tried was a copy and the second was an original. Neither played. Audio cd's play OK. Any ideas what the problem might be?

DVDRoms don't play DVD's, they read them.. DVDplayer software plays them.

Is the drive reading DVD's ok?

He speaketh the truth.Do you have Power DVD or some other dvd software? You can even use Windows Media Player, which comes with most versions of Windows.

Just like to point out that you need to have an MPEG2 codec installed for wmp to work also probably an AC3 codec.

I've been busy of late so haven't had a chance to sort this problem out. I have PowerDVD installed and Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player plays mpg's ok. Any reason why I can't play dvds?

Does the drive read DVDs? Can you open a folder and look at the contents? Can you right click on the drive icon and choose properties and see the size of the DVD or the name or anything?
